Humphrey was a member of the Artillery Company in Boston,
Massachusetts in 1642 and received his dividends of the Shawahine
[Billier] Lands. He held offices and acted on committies for the
town.@@12 He became a freeman October 8, 1672.@@14
Humphrey and Patience lived in that part of Cambridge called
Menotomy, now Arlington, Massachusetts. He died at age 68

George Bowers originally settled at Scituate, Plymouth Co., MA where he w as a planter, a Freeman March, 1637 and a town officer. By the spring of 1 639 he had removed to Plymouth where he was elected constable 5 March 163 9, although he did not sell his land in Scituate or buy in Plymouth unt il 1640. He removed to Cambridge about 1642 where his wife and son Matth ew died. His son John graduated from Harvard in 1649.

His will is dated 8 Nov. 1656 and was probated 20 Dec. 1656

GEORGE BOWERS was early at Scituate in the Plymouth Colony, where he w as a freeman 7 March 1636/7 and town officer. By the spring of 1639 he h ad removed to Plymouth, and on 5 March 1638/9 was elected constable for t he whole of that town, although he did not sell his lands at Scituate or b uy at Plymouth until 1640. He purchased lands at Eele River of Governor Wi nslow, who reserved the right of repurchase in part in case he should hims elf decide to settle there. He was soon complaned of for not allowing t he passage of cattle, and a committee was appointed to lay out ways throu gh his land where they would be least prejudicial to him. In 1640 "John Ba rnes and George Bower," Richard Knowle's nearest neighbor and his father-i n-law, were given charge of procuring timber for the new Colony jail. In J an. 1641/2 a dozen or morePlymouth men contracted for building a barq ue on shares, a sixteenth part each to Mr. William Bradford, John Atwoo d, George Bower, Edward Bangs, and others. But George Bower soon remov ed to Cambridge, apparently for the education of his sons. His wife Barbar ie died at Cambridge 25 March 1644, his son Matthew died there 30 jan 1644 /5, and his son John was graduated at the college in 1649. On 15 April 16 49 George Bower married at Cambridge Elizabeth Worthington, who after h is death married again at Cambridge, 25 June 1657, Henry Bowtell. On 31 M ay 1652 he was called before the Court for voting when not a freeman of th is (the Massachusetts Bay Colony. In his will, dated 8 November and prov ed 30 December 1656, he did not mention his daughter Ruth Knowles, but beq ueathed to his wife, his sons Benanuel, John, and Jerathmeel, and his you ng dauthers, Patience and Silence. His son Benanuel married at Campbridg e, 9 December 1653, Elizabeth Dunster. His son Jerathmeel, a child by h is second wife, was born at Cambridge 2 May 1650.

RICHARD LANGHORNE, also known as LONGHORNE, b. abt. 1617 in England, a nd was buried on 13 Feb 1668 Rowley, MA.

Richard Langhorne married MARY CROSBY on 16 Jan. 1647/48 in Rowley, MA .. Holme-on-Spaulding Moor, Yorkshire, Eng. and Rowley, MA. She was baptiz ed o 4 Dec. 1629 in Holme-on-Spaulding Moor, York, Eng., d. 29 Dec. 1667 R owley, Mass. She was the daughter of ROBERT CROSBY and CONSTANCE BRIGH AM of Holme.

In Rowley in 1666 Richard was granted 100 acres of land, "It lyeth on t he Highway that goeth from Ipswich to Andover.", and in 1667 he recieved p art of the Hog Island Marshes during a division. In late December of 16 67 a series of deaths in the family, beginning with Richard's wife Mar y, left only three, perhaps four, survivors a little over six months late r. Richard's death and burial followed in less than a month and a half aft er that of his wife Mary. This left their six children orphans. However th eir two youngest children, and only remaining sons, Richard and Thomas we re both dead within five months.

The eldest surviving daughter at the time of Richard's death was Elizab eth Langhorne, to whom he assigned a double portion in his Will of 10 Fe b. 1668, and whom he appointed as co-executor of his Will along with his b rother Thomas Langhorne of Cambridge.

2. Elizabeth Langhorne, born in Sept of 1649 in Rowley, MA. [1649 was ente red into the Rowley records in a different ink] [Rowley VR 1:130] , a nd d. 29 Mar 1704 in Bradford, Essex, MA. [Holman, p. 384] She m. Abrah am Hazeltine 4 Oct 1671[Rowley VR 1:342; Holman, p. 384]. Abraham hazelti ne was b. 3 Mar. 1647/48 in Rowley, Essex Co., MA., and d. 28 Apr 17 11 in Bradford, Essex Co., MA. [Holman, p. 384]. He was the son of Robe rt and Anne Hazeltine of Rowley and Bradford, Essex Co., MA. [Holman, p. 3 81]. Elizabeth Longhorne at the age of 19 was co-executor of her father 's Will. She married Abraham over three years later. Children of Elizabe th and Abraham:

(1) Samuel Stickney, Jr. on 9 Mar 16 89/90 in Rowley, Essex, MA., he was b. 5 Feb 1663 Rowley, MA. and d. 30 D ec 1714 Bradford, MA, age 51, the son of Lieutenant Samuel and Juliana (Sw an) Stickney, Sr. Children: Thomas Stickney b. 23 Aug 1694 ; Elizabeth St ickney, b. 20 Aug 1696, and Abraham Stickney, b. 16 Oct 1703.Mary Haselti ne m. (2) Joseph Tidd 30 Aug 1722 in Bradford, MA.

6. Sarah Langhorne, b. 06 Dec 1660 in Rowley, Essex Co., MA. After the de ath of her parents Sarah made several appearances in the court recor ds of Essex Co. On "5 May 1674; Sarah Longhorne chose Daniel Wicom as h er Guardian." On another occassion, Sarah Longhorne, "who was left young a nd of tender agge",having been under the charge of an executor, petition ed the court for a guardian. Petition to the court, dated Ipswich, 4:3:1 674:

"Constance Crosbie Grandmother to this orphan Sarah Longhorne under-standi ng that Daniel Wickham is like to be perswaded to accept of Guardianship f or her: I thinking that she had need of one that hath more experience to o versee her and for other reasons I am very unwilling & doe desire that su ch a thing may not be proceeded in or granted till Thomas Longhorne of Cam bridge, her uncle, knowes and gives his consent for he takes more ca re of the children than I expected he would have done; not more at presen t, your poor & humble servant & handmaide."

7. Bethiah Langhorne, b. in in Rowley, Essex Co., MA. Bethiah m. Amos Marr ett on 2 Nov. 1681. "HISTORY OF CAMBRIDGE MASS.", Lucius R. Paige, pp. 599 -600.
